Karen Hellekson, PhD, ELS, is a BELS-certified copy editor in the scientific, technical, and medical industry. She specializes in medical journal work. Dr. Hellekson’s PhD is in English from the University of Kansas, where she studied science fiction literature with James Gunn. She has published a number of articles and several books, the most recent of which is a volume coedited with Kristina Busse, Fan Fiction and Fan Communities in the Age of the Internet (McFarland, 2006). She is particularly interested in the intersection of history, narrative, and time.
